Serialized near-future fiction, poetry, and essays from the edge of the map

About

Last Known Point is a living, breathing journal, a garden where I sow and tend the many ideas and stories bubbling up out of my imagination.

On this site, you'll find poetry, stories, and essays. On X, you'll find commentary on technology, governance, philosophy, sociology, and more. This publication is a living work of personal art, each story created and shaped with care and attention. Even the website itself was carefully considered.

In a world where technology is allowing anyone to do anything, how will people decide what to do? We're in uncharted territory as a society. Technology is forcing us to face the hard questions of what it really means to be human and how we find purpose in this world. There's so many people out there searching for meaning; I think you just choose it.

The unknown can sometimes be quite scary for some, but I've always found it exhilarating. I believe that the thrill of living is acting on the edge of the unknown, and that's exactly what I'm doing here.

I don't know if this will ever amount to anything, but I'm writing here anyways, a brazen act of creation and maintenance in a world bent on consumption and negligence. Something was brought into reality that wouldn't have existed otherwise because of me, and I think that's something special.

We're all creators in a way, whether it's stories, careers, relationships, art, families, or something else. If you don't know where to start, start at the smallest possible step, and remember: what we can dream, we can build.— Joe
